The need for an ‘everyday life’ blog?

Welcome!

As I scratched my head and dug into my brain figuring out the topic of my first post here, I asked myself the question – “why do most people blog about their everyday life?”

Some reasons which came to my mind are:

  • Their life maybe super interesting?
  • They need an outlet to express their views which are contradictory to the general opinion?

Orrrr….

They just want to see how people react when everyone reads their blog and has multiple opinions? (I think I belong to this category).

So, here goes my first shot at sharing something from my everyday life:

Washington Square Park

Many people complain about the dense concrete jungle that New York City is. There are pros and cons of that, and one definite pro is that you can get anywhere by walking!

I’ve always had a thing for walking, be it going for an evening walk every single day in India (the streetfood was probably my only motivation), a brisk long walk after dinner to clear my head and talk to my folks back home when i entered the US, or a “walk the talk” with a friend to catch up and see what they are upto.

For a few months now,  Washington square park in lower Manhattan has been my constant go-to place after work.

There is a special kind of magic in this place. Be it the piano guy who plays every evening at the east/west of the park, or the guy making water bubbles near the fountain for everyone to play with (your inner kid will definitely come out) , the random group of skaters, the usual street artists where one person jumps over 5 other people, the chess players openly challenging people in the park, or just the casual NYU grad strolling around the park to get some fresh air, this place certainly gets its fair share of calm and crazy.

But why does it all matter? There are amusements everywhere across New York city, right?

Yes. There are. But listening to Alicia Keys’s “empire state of mind” while looking at the empire state from the start of 5th ave near the Washington Square arch, seeing the world trade center majestically standing on the other side, observing extreme amount of mixed diversity and emotions running through the park, and craving some of the best food in east village, I ask myself this question :

Are you inspired everyday? If so, what are you inspired about? If not, why not?

You may ask this question multiple times, but i’m sure you won’t catch a rainbow ending at the fountain in this park on numerous occasions 🙂 So, here’s something for you….
